Intake Specialist
Job Location: Wallingford Center, Connecticut Apply Via ApplicationFull Time - Day Shift
9:30am - 6pm
*This role will be a combination of on-site in Wallingford, CT and remote*
Responsible for a variety of administrative non-clinical duties and support services for the Intake department including, but not limited to data entry, obtaining initial authorization, insurance verification, faxing, filing, and monitoring department supplies. Processes referrals, completes full data entry of referral, obtains and verifies insurance information and requests initial authorization for Home Health and Hospice admissions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Processes appropriate referrals to the agency per agency policy and coordinates all intake information in the management of referrals for service.
- Assures coordination of all required services to clients and families by agency staff and community resources.
- Assists with determining the correct pay source at time of referral. Conducts Medicare HETS review for hospice and homecare patients; Medicaid EDS system query for patient eligibility and benefits. Contact commercial payers to verify benefits for homecare and hospice patients. Provides branch with assistance regarding authorization maintenance including maintaining tracking system to identify patients requiring authorizations for visits and communicating the information to branches according to Agency policy.
- Assists with non-clinical support including insurance verification, obtaining initial authorization, data entry, filing, answering phones, calling referral sources, and ordering supplies.
- Responsible for querying payer eligibility databases to complete verification process
- Obtains initial authorizations and pre-determination with applicable insurance in a timely manner.
- Assists with obtaining accurate insurance verification and authorization information from necessary parties while maintaining a customer service focus to outside agencies as well as branch personnel and colleagues.
- Maintains databases and pertinent information relative to the needs of the Intake Department.
- Works on special projects as needed.
- Communicates effectively and tactfully with multiple referral sources,maintaining a customer service focus with outside agencies as well as branch personnel and colleagues.
- Can be depended upon to report to work on-time, use time off appropriately, and complete annual education & medical requirements. Works weekends and holidays on a rotating basis as determined by department needs.
- Participates in Weekend and Holiday rotation as needed and required.
- Perform other duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school Diploma or equivalency
- Experience with computer data entry, word processing, and creation of reports.
- Maintains current drivers’ license and auto insurance.
- Possess reliable transportation
