Monday through Friday 40 hours
Evening shift - 2:45pm to 11:15pm
The Unit Secretary (US) serves as the pivotal person in the routine operations and smooth running of the care center on a daily basis under the direction and supervision of the Clinical Nurse Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. The US organizes and coordinates the daily activities of the care center related to physician visits, monthly reviews, annual History & Physical's, consultant visits, patient/resident appointments, lab and x-ray appointments, LOA's, etc, staff assignments and schedules. She/he will maintain the daily nursing staffing sheet and assist in staffing and scheduling activities as directed by the CNM.
2. The US will transcribe physician orders into the Meditech Order Entry module accurately and efficiently and communicate all urgent or emergent orders to the appropriate staff to ensure the safe and effective delivery of patient care.
3. The US will perform all clerical duties necessary to maintain a complete, organized and current medical record and will demonstrate full understanding of responsibilities of all procedures relating to the medical record such as: admissions, discharges, transfers, deaths and purging. The medical record will meet all facility and regulatory standards as demonstrated by compliance with monthly medical record audits.
4. The US serves as a resource to all staff, physicians, patients/residents, families and visitors and communicates information promptly and accurately in a professional and sensitive manner. She/he is able to prioritize work in order to provide prompt and efficient service and demonstrates flexibility in her/his working schedule to best meet departmental needs.
5. The US assists in the containment of costs through the requisitioning of supplies and equipment, maintenance and repair services and preparation of related forms in order to keep accurate inventories of supplies and equipment.
6. Communicates effectively and tactfully with residents/patients recognizing their age, needs, abilities and physical condition.
7. Performs other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High School or equivalent
Experience: 1-2 secretarial experience preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: CNA preferred
