Lead Resident Care Assistant
Job Location: Wallingford Center, Connecticut Apply Via ApplicationUnder the direction and supervision of the ALSA Director, and/or RN Designee, Licensed Nurse, a Lead ALSA Aide is a Certified Nursing Assistant who is responsible for performing and coordinating activities and care within the Assisted Living Program. He/She will provide assistance in maintaining a positive physical and social environment for the residents. This position will also be responsible for providing services and care to residents in the same manner as RCA's. They must also have an understanding of the Mission, Vision and Values of Masonicare.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Verify all residents have been accounted for and have received care
- Review incomplete documentation within 24 hours to ensure RCA documents are appropriately and accurately documented. Provide report to supervisor of missing documentation timely.
- Monitor and ensure all RCA Staff are responding to Call for Aides timely. Provide report to supervisor of untimely responses throughout shift.
- Receive daily report from all RCA’s before end of shift. Provide timely follow up and direction to RCA and/or ALSA Nurse to avoid missed communication or incompletion of tasks.
- Provided as needed report to ALSA Nurse of any areas in need of improvement or follow up timely.
- Encourage RCA team to embrace the Mission, Vision and Values of Masonicare.
- Verify all RCA’s are wearing required uniform and badge at all times. Provide report to supervisor of any incomplete uniforms.
- Completes required documentation within EMR related to resident care and activities during shift.
- Provide additional support to RCA team as schedule allows.
- Assists with orientation and training of new staff.
- Provides assistance with essential activities of daily living and personal care to residents based on age, needs and abilities of the resident:
- bathing;
- dressing and undressing;
- ambulating;
- bed making
- assisting with laundry;
- escorting the resident and coordinating internal transportation needs
- assisting with mail delivery and correspondence
- toileting;
- assistance with meals and nourishment's;
- personal hygiene (shaving, dental hygiene, nail, hair and foot care);
- transferring using proper body mechanics and appropriate assistive devices; and
care of ADL devices such as eyeglasses and hearing aids, etc.
- Medication Support:
- Assist or Remind the resident through techniques of Assistance, Reminding, and Verifying.
- Health Maintenance and Monitoring Tasks:
- observes and reports changes in the residents' physical condition and cognitive/emotional status to ALSA Licensed Nurses as needed;
- Communicates via 24 Hour log/Custom Alert any notable changes, deletions, additions in resident services to next shifts and Supervisor.
- Provides Safety checks to align with Resident Care Plan
- monitors for environmental safety hazards;
- reports to Supervisor incidents, errors or accidents;
- reports to Supervisor resident and resident related events
- Emergency Preparedness:
- responds to and acts appropriately in emergency or disaster situations
- Leadership:
- is a resident advocate at all times;
- follows Masonicare policy concerning confidentiality;
- plans and completes duties with minimal direction from supervisor;
- works collaboratively with colleagues;
- uses tactful, diplomatic communication in potentially sensitive or emotionally charged situations;
- follows up with appropriate staff, resident or others regarding reported complaints, problems and concerns;
- acts as ambassador to guest and other off-campus visitors; and maintains certifications required for employment
- Performs other duties as assigned and required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High School Graduate.
Experience: 5 years of CNA experience required
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Current State of Connecticut CNA certificate or HHA Certificate; CPR Certification preferred. Valid CT Driver's License
