Director Facility Operations
Job Location: Wallingford Center, Connecticut Apply Via ApplicationManages the operation of maintenance services by supervising personnel and contractors as required to maintain buildings and grounds, as well as overseeing the manager of Environmental Services. Provides support as needed to the Corporate Director of Facilities Development on all special projects.
Reports To: Associate Executive Director
Supervises: Maintenance Staff and Manager of Environmental Services
Contacts: Residents, Families, Staff, Visitors, and Contractors
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for supervision and scheduling of maintenance personnel including hiring, training, performance evaluations, discipline and termination.
2. Plans and schedules maintenance personnel to work assignments and specific projects. Performs spot checks of work to insure that workmanship meets standards and that safety and building regulations are complied with.
3. Oversees the Manager of Environmental Services.
4. Develops a budget to meet the needs required to maintain and improve the facility, including salary, expense and capital budgets.
5. Coordinates activities of staff, contractors, inspectors and services for the Ashlar Village maintenance department. Oversee or delegate staff to oversee outside contractors.
6. Provide support, as needed, to the Corporate Director of Facilities Development on all special projects.
7. Understands and follows universal precautions and is aware of all chemicals used in the department.
8. Interacts with residents in a respectful, reassuring manner when resolving resident concerns or complaints.
9. Ability to work from blueprints and drawings.
10. Works as a team member within the department, as well as with other departments.
11. Obtains bids from contractors when necessary.
12. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: High School or Trade School graduate required;
Bachelors’ degree preferred.
Experience: 5-7 years experience in the trades and managing a similar size facility.
Licensure: Some type of trade license in the State of CT is desirable. Valid CT driver’s license required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Must have good communication skills; be able to communicate effectively with residents. Knowledge of maintenance trades.
