Stationary Engineer
Job Location: Wallingford Center, Connecticut Apply Via ApplicationSummary of Position: Operates and maintains boilers and other auxiliary equipment necessary for producing steam for heat and power for the Masonicare Health Center.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Operates and maintains boilers; observes various meters and gauges and takes appropriate action for safe operation.
2. Starts, stops and switches over boiler as appropriate.
3. Cleans and repairs boilers, blow tubes and discharge sediment; regulates feed water and condensation pumps and lubricates pump equipment.
- Cleans inside of boiler wall and repairs and/or replaces broken or worn parts.
- Tests emergency generators and log results, reaction, etc. Tests boiler and cooling tower water samples; assigns proper chemical treatment to boiling and cooling waters.
- Performs periodic inspections of mechanical rooms throughout the hospital to ensure proper operation of heat, air conditioning and ventilation, and medical support equipment.
- Performemergency maintenance repairs in the hospital when called between the hours of 3:30pm and 7:00am daily and all day Saturday, Sunday and holidays. Contact the on-call Maintenance Mechanic or Facilities Manager if unable to make the necessary repair depending on the urgency of the repair.
- Checks operation of emergency generators during a power failure. Takes reading and resets relays that trip out. Check and reset elevators and makes sure no individuals are in the elevator.
9. Proficient knowledge of boilers, generators, elevators, air conditioning
machinery/equipment.
10. Performs other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Post High School Vocational/Specialized Training
Experience: 1-3 years boiler room experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: License as a Boiler Operator preferred.
