As a leader within the Food Service department, the Assistant Manager assumes responsibility for quality assurance and customer service excellence within the dining room settings. Reporting to the Director of Dining Services, the Assistant Manager creates and maintains scheduling, monitors staff compliance with set dining standards, addresses resident concerns tactfully and timely, plays a key role in re-engineering and improvement initiatives, and oversees general sanitation in both the main dining room and our memory care dining environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership to Food Service team; set service and delivery standards, train and develop team members to prioritize resident needs and exercise customer service excellence in a professional setting.
- Conduct pre-shift meetings with team to ensure consistent and timely communication regarding menus, specials, trends, and expectations. Survey dining room before, during, and after meal services to ensure cleanliness as well as pre- and post-meal activity compliance.
- Collaborate with Director and other key constituents to ensure menus are followed in accordance with the schedule.
- Participate in the interviewing and selection of new hires; onboard, train, and develop staff in alignment with Masonicare and Greenridge Place standards; educate team both through routine and ad hoc in-services as well as formal training sessions, counsel and discipline direct reports when appropriate, and ensure compliance with all HR policies including but not limited to performance, time and attendance, and payroll.
- Oversee the overall dining room and dining experience in Memory Care and Assisted Living, rotating out décor and making sure the dining room is up to the community standards.
- Lead efforts tied to the community’s catering events as needed.
- Under direction of the Director, lead efforts to improve practices and procedures geared towards delivering an enhanced dining experience.
- Ensure compliance with all guidelines and procedures for safe food handling and general sanitation.
- Address both staff and customer issues professionally and use discretion and tact to resolve. Keeps Director abreast of all concerns and escalate matters as appropriate.
- Perform other administrative duties as assigned by Director and/or Executive Director.
11. Report any safety issues, equipment malfunctions and others to appropriate parties.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Experience: Supervisory experience required, waitstaff experience preferred
