The Hospice Director of Clinical Services is responsible for the practice, growth and performance of hospice staff through the direct supervision of clinical supervisors, coordinators and other staff assigned. Responsible for all over sight of Hospice operations. Responsible for program development and participation in other assigned projects of the organization. Participates in the direction and management of the organization and is a liaison between administrative, direct care and support personnel.
Assumes the overall responsibility for the Hospice program, including development, program management and evaluation, continuous quality improvement activities and adherence to regulatory, licensure, and national standards. Directs the overall coordination of hospice and related services throughout the continuum of care service sites and levels of care delivery.
Participates in the development of policies and clinical service objectives and institutes procedures and systems to accomplish and evaluate compliance and attainment of agency goals.
Assumes leadership role in the development and growth of additional sites for Hospice care delivery.
Assumes an active role in the professional development of assigned staff, including participation in orientation, ongoing skill development and other mentoring activities.Responsible for maintaining an office environment that fosters the professional growth and development of assigned staff.
Responsible for ensuring adequate staffing and proper staff development/education for quality care delivery.In conjunction with Human Resources, participates in staff recruitment, selection and discipline/termination of employment of staff not performing according to agency standards (requires consultation with administration).
Identifies and participates in contractual requirements for the programs and manages contracts for performance and cost effectiveness.
Participates in budgetary development and implements activities to adhere to fiscal goals.
Performs outreach and educational functions to educate community groups, third party payers, professional colleagues, vendors and other interested parties regarding Hospice and special programs.
Demonstrates timely and accurate computer entry of patient/job information to facilitate orders for service, creation of time sheets and other required patient/employment documents and reports.
Participates in program planning and evaluation activities related to the clinical services of the
Communicates effectively and tactfully with adult, geriatric clients, recognizing their age, cultural diversity, needs, abilities and physical condition.
Can be depended upon to report to work on-time, use time off appropriately, and complete annual education & medical requirements.
Performs other duties as required including participating in Administrative Call on a rotating basis with other members of the management team.
A Master’s Degree in Nursing, with an active license to practice nursing in this state, or Health Care Administration and at least one (1) year of supervisory or administrative experience in a health care facility/program which included care of the sick; OR
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, with an active license to practice nursing in the State of CT, or Health Care Administration and at least two (2) year of supervisory or administrative experience in a health care facility/program which included care of the sick; OR
Prior experience as the administrator of a home health care agency in this state as of January 1, 1981, who has been so employed continuously for the five (5) years immediately preceding January 1, 1981; OR
Continuous employment as an administrator of a home health care agency in this state as of January 1, 1979; except that on and after January 1, 1986, no personal shall be employed as an administrator of a home health care agency pursuant to this subdivision unless each person additionally meets one of the requirements above.
Knowledge of State and Federal regulations, Medicare and Medicaid guidelines.
Must have a demonstrated working knowledge of Hospice.
Maintains current Drivers’ License and auto insurance.
Possess’ reliable transportation
